Picture A Day #3
Today was the first time we've seen the sun in days. Of course, this being Massachusetts and all, we couldn't just have it stay that way. We had a passing storm with more thunder and lightning, but we also got one of my favorite kind of storms...a sun shower.
I don't think there is anything prettier than a sun shower. I love that you can have the full brightness of the sun with big fat raindrops. The sun makes the rain sparkle, and it just takes on this very sweet, magical kind of look. When Shannon was little she always watched sun storms with a childlike awe. Her reaction was as sweet as the storm.
When I took this picture, I wasn't sure how it would come out. I wanted to convey that it was sunny out (the light reflecting off the leaves), but also capture the movement of the raindrops. I put my camera on Shutter Priority, set the ISO to 100 and the white balance to sunny then set a slow shutter speed (I'd love to tell you all what that shutter speed was, but apparently Photoshop Elements doesn't want to give me that information right now). On the small screen of my camera it looked okay, but when I uploaded it to my computer and saw the actual streaks of raindrops, I was extremely satisfied. Mission accomplished.

2 Thoughts...:
Very cool picture! I too love a sun shower :-)
They say when its sunny and raining that the devil is spanking his wife.
